The Nick Kyrgios Racquet – The Yonex Ezone DR 98

The Nick Kyrgios racquet is the Yonex Ezone DR 98. Yonex states they are “Breaking the mold with the world’s first tennis racquet to feature premium grade NANOMETRIC DR carbon graphite, the EZONE DR gives players increased flex and repulsion plus a larger sweet spot for dynamic power.”

Kyrgios plays an attacking baseline style game and is known best for being able to hit spots on a dime. His best weapon is his serve, which allows Nick to take control of the point from beginning to end. The Nick Kyrgios racquet provides him with the power and control needed to maximize his athletic ability and hit winners from anywhere on the court.

Nick Kyrgios Family and Early Life

Nicholas Hilmy “Nick” Kyrgios was born in Canberra Australia on April 27th, 1995. Nick’s father, Giorgos(George), originates from Greece while his mother Norlaila is from Malaysia. He has two siblings, a brother Christos and a sister Halimah.

During his youth, Nick was also a talented young basketball player, but gave up the sport at 14 years old to concentrate on tennis. Shortly after his decision to exclusively focus on tennis, he parted ways from his tennis instructor of 10 years, Andrew Bulley. He displayed so much respect for his childhood coach that 5 years later, Kyrgios stated “He’s not just A tennis coach, he’s THE tennis coach.”

Nick Kyrgios as the Young Rising Star

Kyrgios achievements as a young Pro have been almost overshadowed by “bad boy” antics. These include volatile comments directed at his player box, the media and even dis-respectful quips about Stan Wawrinka’s girlfriend, which resulted in fines and suspensions.

However, when speaking purely of his tennis talent, Kyrgios is a former world junior no.1.  He’s won the Australian Open boy’s singles title and two Grand Slam doubles titles at the French Open and Wimbledon.

On the pro tour, Nick burst into the spotlight by defeating world no.1 Rafael Nadal in the 4th round of the Wimbledon Championships. He became the first teenager to defeat a world no. 1 in a Grand Slam event since 2005. This brought his world ranking into the top 100 for the first time.  The last teenager to achieve a top 100 world ranking was his good friend and fellow Australian, Bernie Tomic.  Since then, Kyrgios has continued to build on his tennis accomplishments, as well as impress and anger tennis fans and officials all at the same time.
