Since Arthur Ashe, dozens of top tennis pros have used a Head tennis racket to master the game of tennis. Among those pros are Andre Agassi, Maria Sharapova, Andy Murray, Marin Cilic, Novak Djokovic and many more.

Making History

In 1950, Howard Head, an aeronautical engineer was using wooden skis when he realized he would get performance with aluminum. It just so happens, he worked for the Glenn Martin Company which builds fuselages for aircrafts. With access to the right materials, Head reinvented the skiing industry. It wasn’t until the 1960’s where Head got interested in tennis.

Who is Behind Head?

Head sold the company in 1969 to the American Machine and Foundry company, but remained as a chairman. At that point, Head took up tennis and purchased controlling interest in a company called Prince Sports. Much like he reinvented skis, Head found a way to reinvent tennis rackets. He found a way to strengthen the head of tennis frames by using aluminum material.

The Future of Head Racquets

Head continues to be a leader of introducing new materials that revolutionize tennis. In 1997, the company of Head created both titanium and graphite tennis racquets.  More and more players are winning grand slam tennis tournaments using head racquets. Players like Maria Sharapova, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic have all won grand slam tournaments using a Head tennis racquet.
